Keeping it exciting. Keeping it interactive.

Sagrada Familia

Just back, and not yet recovered from, Alimentaria. That show is massive and has some planning issues to deal with (ones which our little event won’t have to deal with) regarding signage, transport and the general helpfulness of staff. But enough of that. Onwards and upwards!

One of the things Ryan and I did at the show was to go along to a Spanish Wine 2.0 event being sponsored by the show. It was very hard to gauge the level of interest and knowledge in the audience and it struck me that although the speakers may have had interesting things to say about Wine 2.0 in Spain and around the world, this was still a “1.0″ style presentation. There was little or no attempt to bring the audience into the conversation until the very end (usual Q&A) by which point it is really too late.

Since Wine 2.0 is all about getting an interactive conversation going it is important that we remember that this is not JUST online, but also in all our communications. Any conversation requires two or more participants to be involved wherever that conversation is happening.

It has further inspired us to find novel ways to ensure that this European Wine Bloggers Conference event is NOT just a series of “presentations” but rather a series of opportunities for us to discuss important matters. Exactly what format this will take will be outlined soon, but if you have any suggestions, please do let us know in the comments or in the forum.

p.s. if you happened to come by in the last few days and this site looked incomplete we should apologise for a temporary technical glitch. It should be fixed now and proves it happens to everyone, even those who claim to know something on the subject of blog management.
