When, where and why did you begin blogging?
I started this adventure in the beginning of 2008, as a result of my collaboration with Yvinoss based in Barcelona.
In a few short sentences, summarize your intention with your wine blog.
My goal is to give people a sneak peak into the world of wine from the perspective of the winemaker, the viticulturist and the winery owner. Beyond this, as it is always important to give as it is to receive, I want to offer people whatever expertise I have in wine, while in turn, adding value to my life in both a personal and professional level.
How would you describe your readers?
An individual who craves to go beyond the general idea of “wine” itself to truly understand not only what goes into each bottle of wine, but how it got there and what the motivation was behind its creation.
Is blogging a professional endeavor for you or more of a personal outlet?
I see it as more of a tool to aid me in my professional career as an oenologist and a wine taster.
What tools or resources have you found to be successful in marketing your blog?
My primary resource is simply that of having a significant amount of high quality content. The more quality content I have, the more people want to come and read my blog. Secondarily, word of mouth. Each and every time I meet someone, I try to share my blog as a professional resource.Third, networking at as many international wine events as possible. And lastly, using social media tools like Twitter, wine forums, etc.
How would you describe wine blogging to be different than print media?
There is an ease and convenience of reaching all kinds of people through wine blogs, along with an immediacy and ability to inform people about wines that have no means to make themselves known through the print media.
Do you believe wine blogs have made any marked impact on the wine industry or wine culture?
As of recently, absolutely. Many wineries are beginning to see this medium as a very important influence on the wine market.
Where do you see wine blogging in 10 years?
I think it will be an important tool for information, where wineries can announce their new wines; where the value of a wine is measured by its acceptance among Internet users; and where we will see widespread simultaneous virtual tastings.
What do you hope to gain from this conference?
My hope is to get to know new, interesting people, share opinions about Spanish wines, and generally, have a great weekend. Oh, yeah, let’s not forget the change to improve my English a bit.

I agree that wine blogs are beginning to have an influence on the wine market, especially those of wine critics.
