About the company Winepick / Vinissim:
Winepick / Vinissim Exportación is a winery consortium intent on providing a spectrum of tastes and broad selection of wines to an international market. This syndicate spans a breadth of vineyards, from estates who harvest by hand to producers who use full computer modernization. Our services have built an exceptional connection between the creators and the clients.
This is an organization built for an audience looking for real wines made by people who are passionate about their work. We understand that there is no universal wine; that there is a wine for every occasion, and a person for every wine. In order to bring this concept to the forefront, we deliver limitless variety with our unique approach.
From our headquarters in Barcelona, we handle all international sales, logistical services and marketing needs. This blend of expertise with our shared purpose in presenting wines that will continue to progress and develop has created balance. As our collaboration grows, Vinissim intends to maintain this principle uniting passion and industry.“Wine is the expression of the earth. Its charm comes from its complexities as well as its impurities.” HH
When, where and why did you begin blogging?
Back 10 years ago in 1998 I was recruited as a Student in Oenology to give answers to readers in a Swedish web page. Later on I started reading wine blogs as they appeared. Most interesting pages are quite resent. They may have started many years ago, but has taken some years before the topic changed from “I had a great wine from Greece the other day” to more complex topics as the markets, strategies, points of views, ideas… well topics that help the development of our industry.
In a few short sentences, summarize your intention with your wine blog.
Create a bridge in between the producers, market and consumers. There are many experts in different areas, but the market, and the development that is taking part in the Wine World is often not uncovered.
How would you describe your readers?
Curious and open minded people. Love them. Would love to be able to write more. In a new Web page that I will be launching this fall a blog will be added. This to enter al our clients (importers) and also the final wine consumers.
Is blogging a professional endeavour for you or more of a personal outlet?
Blogging is at the current time mostly for personal outlet. As for what blogging stands for. As things develop… It is getting more and more professional. We are seeing and finding our colleagues using this media. This meeting in Rioja is definitely a proof on this. There will be some very interesting and knowledgeable people taking interest in this gathering. A proof also that things are changing. Blogging will most surely become a interactive media and communication point.
What tools or resources have you found to be successful in marketing your blog?
Press releases, vintage comets, feedback on products… The feedback can be very interesting and what I am most grateful for.
How would you describe wine blogging to be different than print media?
Blogging is Interactive. In the end, something can be published in a Print media and then discussed on a blog. I still enjoy very much resting my eyes on a piece of paper.
Do you believe wine blogs have made any marked impact on the wine industry or wine culture?
It definitely has it. More people are reading blogs as there is a huge search for information.
Where do you see wine blogging in 10 years?
I think the medias will take the blogging and the human need to interact more in counted. Feeding comments on media will be much more assessable and easier. We will see…
What do you hope to gain from this conference?
Meet more people and hear their points of views. Hear what is happening in the blog world. If we’re lucky, have some great wines.
