Javier NavarroWhen, where and why did you begin blogging?

I started working with Emilio Sáez van Eerd two years ago in the amazing world of the wine. We were very open to work with the new technologies and we were always looking for new ways to promote the wines, especially Tintoralba’s wines. When we met Catavino, and they opened our minds to make us think in a different way when in Spain there was still wineries working without Internet or email in their office.

We began to collaborate in several projects, one of them was the creation of the first Cooperative Wine Blog in Spain last year, which was my first experience and where I began blogging.

In a few short sentences, summarize your intention with your wine blog.

The Tintoralba wine blog arose from both the need to make Tintoralba’s wines better known, especially in the international market, and to participate as a winery blog with the point of view of a Cooperative sharing its experiences.

How would you describe your readers?

We are very new at blogging, and at this moment, our readers are mainly professionals from the wine sector.

Is blogging a professional endeavor for you or more of a personal outlet?

As I said, we are dealing with the Export Department of Tintoralba, and we try to do our best posting as frequently as we can.

What tools or resources have you found to be successful in marketing your blog?

At this moment we haven’t used any special tools or resources for marketing our blog.

How would you describe wine blogging to be different than print media?

I think this is very different concept. What we do with are blog will be impossible to do with print media.

Do you believe wine blogs have made any marked impact on the wine industry or wine culture?

I think so but in countries like Spain where internet and blogs are still in nappies, the impact on the wine industry is not very important at this moment, although there are some exceptions.

Where do you see wine blogging in 10 years?

In 10 years, I’ve seen wine blogging become more global, where all the agents in the wine industry will participate: wineries, importers, distributor, restaurants, shops, consumers…

What do you hope to gain from this conference?

I hope to obtain many new ideas from the participants, as well as new good friends.
