Why is wine blogging relevant to you?
I am doing a 6 week internship with TodoVino during August and September, and ultimately hope to forge a career in the wine industry after finishing my languages degree. I am therefore fascinated to see how blogging and wine can work together.
What is the main difference between print and wine blogging?
A major difference seems to be the room for discussion on a blog; in addition to this, blogs can act as a forum for both expert and amateur, making it interactive and inclusive.
Are wineries, retailers, importers, etc. open to blogs in your culture?
Wine blogging is something I have had little contact with until recently, but there do seem to be a fair number of wine blogs that are pretty well known and genuinely informative, so I don’t see why wineries and the like should have any problem with them.
As a non-blogger, at the moment, how important do you think wine blogging is today?
It seems to be of growing importance, people are becoming more and more aware of wine blogs, and I think their interactivity is positive, encouraging people to be opinionated and receptive to discussion.
Where do you see wine blogging in 10 years time?
Ideally one would hope to see it flourishing as a reliable resource, used to promote the wine industry and provide a lively forum for discussion.
What do you hope to gain from attending the conference?
As a novice, I hope to glean much about how wine blogging works, how the mechanics of its future might unfold, and about how such a well-established industry (that of wine) has found its feet in the world of Internet.
Do you read wine blogs (if so, can you give us a few of your favorites)?
Wine blogs I have looked at recently and have liked include Wine Anorak and Tom Cannavan’s website.
